As a communications professional, I have over 9 years experience in writing content and copy for the organisations I work with. My writing has helped inspire volunteers to organise fundraising events right across the UK, colleagues to understand the fast changing world during the covid pandemic moving to immediate home based working, engage employees in recognition programmes for global organisations and promote the public to donate to great causes.

At *company*, as part of the *project* implementation, we‘ve recently completed an exciting and important milestone which was a stepping stone to future developments in this area, paving the way for *company* to revolutionise our reporting across the business.
As part of our effort to become further integrated with *company*, we’re beginning *project 2* over the coming year, which will be a strategic analytics solution transforming how we do reporting.
What have we done?
*Project* has successfully replaced the CRM Reporting tool and Cognos IA with Analytics Data Hub (ADH) and Power BI. This change has helped to streamline, consolidate and simplify approximately 1,000 reports into just 12!
A huge thank you and shoutout to *named colleagues* and the rest of the team, for their utmost dedication to getting this over the line - a prime example of uniting around our customers.
What are we doing next?
*Project 2* is a transformation project which aims to apply the same process to the rest of *company*. We currently have over 9000 reports in Cognos which limits the amount of oversight and control we have over them. We are hoping to reduce this by 60% to enable better efficiency, security and governance.
Our Global IT department recently came together for a celebratory Townhall led by *name*, SVP Infrastructure and Associate experience, at *company*.
The team have had a high velocity and high delivery 18+ months and *name*, Head of IT, decided that this was the perfect time to recognise the commitment and perseverance which he said has ‘has quite frankly been astonishing and I am so proud of the whole team.’
We took most of our permanent team members for a day full of motivating content and fun team building at Mercedes World in Weybridge. Beginning with a look back at the simply huge list of projects, programmes and tasks completed over this time – our *company* Apollo 11 moon landing. Kennedy’s speech in 1962 laid out a really clear goal and eventually, it was realised. We feel that we’ve achieved our own *company* moon landing and we now can build on this amazing achievement together.
You can see a really quick video snapshot of the celebration day here.
Change is a constant and that has never been truer than right now in *company*. We’ve talked about our ‘new world’ for quite some time, now, we’re entering ‘Future IT’. FIT is all about how IT enables the business, performs and behaves as part of one global team.
*Name*, Manging Director, recorded this dedicated video for the team on the day talking about how we’re all a part of a chain reaction in making our *company* business move forward successfully.
Now is the time! We gathered a really inspiring wordcloud of the behaviours the IT team want to build into our new culture (you can see this above) and it really summed up these three key messages which we covered on the day:
We’re becoming a matrix, which brings more opportunities
We’re part of one global team, looking at the bigger picture
We’re changing our mindset to be a world class IT department
Joining *company* has raised the bar and we all need to match this, with the investment we’re receiving this is more than achievable, but what we have always done will no longer fit the bill. We need to bring these behaviours with us every day to get there.
We have made some commitments about our Future IT culture and actually everyone across *company* UK could make similar commitments as we move forward as one team.
We will think differently
How we deliver results will need to adapt, we need to approach things differently. Be innovative and put yourself in the shoes of our end customers and patients.
We will be better
Set higher expectations for yourselves, your colleagues and your line manager. If you wouldn’t accept a standard at home then don’t accept it at work.
We will care more
Think of the Janitor at NASA who spoke to JFK – he was helping to put ‘a man on the moon’. Think about your role and how it ensures that our patients receive their medication.
If we all make a 1% improvement to what we do, it will deliver a huge impact to our customers. We’re part of a chain reaction and what we do, how well we do it – makes a big difference to the ability other areas of the business can perform.
This event was inspiring, motivating and honest – we talked about how thankful we all are for the levels of commitment we all feel and mostly the pride we feel after over 18 months of really hard work and sacrifice. It was a uplifting day that the whole team really deserved to enjoy.
*Company* has introduced *product*, a semi-automated repeat dispensing solution, designed to improve efficiency and accuracy in pharmacy operations.
The technology will enable pharmacists to partially automate repeat prescription dispensing, simplifying the dispensing operation and freeing up valuable time. This time saving will enable pharmacists to spend more time upskilling staff and focus on offering other, higher revenue services to patients.
As Pharmacies face increasing pressure to optimise workflows, expand services, and reduce costs, *product*’s partial automation removes the need for manual unpacking and shelf picking, allowing pharmacy teams to collate patient orders more accurately using advanced barcode scanning technology.
Managed entirely by in-house dispensing teams, this patient-specific tote system integrates seamlessly with *company*’s ordering systems, offering a more streamlined approach to repeat prescriptions.
Unlike traditional repeat prescription management, *product* enables pharmacies to maintain full control over prescriptions while accelerating the dispensing process. [Orders are processed alongside other pharmacy items and delivered as part of the regular supply chain, ensuring minimal disruption to existing operations.] [Potential quote from Pharmacist on time saving]
*Name*, Sales Director at *company* said: "Now more than ever, pharmacies need innovative solutions to simplify processes and enable them to focus more on patient care. As pharmacies adapt to evolving healthcare demands, *product* provides a practical solution that simplifies and speeds up repeat prescription dispensing, giving pharmacists more time to spend training their teams, working with patients or running their business.”

The word sounded strange to begin with, no one knew what it was, where it came from, if it was even real, and it seemed so far away. But then all at once, it was here, it was everywhere. The word on everyone’s lips that we are now all too familiar with. And we all know it’s devastating consequences.
It’s affected us all. In every imaginable way - our jobs, our families, our politics, our social lives, our relationships, even our attire. We’re now all so used to wearing masks and sanitising everywhere we go, asking before we hug and the discomfort of lateral flow home testing or virtual dates.
We’ve been fast tracked into a world where virtual connections aren’t just a novelty, they are our everyday. And the times when we can be together ‘IRL’, we think nothing of sitting outside shivering, opening the windows, keeping our distance or cancelling plans.
We’re all hoping, especially at this time of year, for a better future. A future where we don’t have to be on high alert all the time. Where we can see our families and friends in person, without the fear of passing on a potentially lethal virus. But mostly, a future that’s ‘normal’.
We’ll always remember these years, but hopefully we won’t forget the good bits. The charity in local communities, helping neighbours, not judging people if they don’t feel comfortable doing something. Sacrificing things in our own lives, to protect the people we love. We know that we’re all, every one of us, getting through this together.
Because we all know it’s devastating consequences, the word on everyone’s lips. It’s here with us, everywhere. It’s real, everyone knows what it is and it doesn’t sound strange any more.
Our DEI philosophy is a journey to create an inclusive experience for the people and customers we work with. As a line manager, we know that you’re passionate about making sure our customers get the best possible service we can give. And that you want to make sure your team is as effective as they can be in their role. Part of this is ensuring that everyone feels included and heard, as well as fully equipped.
We’re intentional with the global culture and capabilities we develop, part of the foundation for this is embracing and learning from diversity, and reflecting internally the communities we serve all around the world. Our most successful people managers value the importance of this because it means we can give the best service possible by understand our customers’ needs and giving them a voice.
Enabling our managers to lead diverse teams successfully is the key to success, investing in training our leaders for a better tomorrow – the best place to start is with ourselves. So please make sure you attend one of our training sessions on inclusive working and accessible workplace practice.
These sessions as so important to help you lead your teams. Imagine, your team is directly serving customers and there is someone who has a hearing impairment, how do you suggest they best help them? Would it help if there was someone in your team who had a hearing impairment themselves who could advise? If the answer is yes, then this training will help because it will make sure we are a fully inclusive organisation so that we can attract and hire a more diverse workforce.
We understand that as a manager your time is precious, so if you are unable to attend, or have a suggestion on how we could make it easier for you to attend, please do get in touch with your training and development team and we can make sure we’re enabling you to be the best you can be.
You can book onto a training session by registering here.
